Preventable Surprises

Projects archive

This project has now been completed. See the Our Work section for our current projects and priorities.

We hosted a first seminar in December 2011 making use of an innovative framework for dealing with ‘Preventable Surprises’, developed by investment experts to analyse the BP Gulf of Mexico oil spill crisis. We used this framework to examine the financial crisis.

Lord Sharman, Chair of the Board of Aviva, kicked off this programme with a seminar attended by 30 influential leaders of the investment world, the corporate sector, professional and regulatory bodies and civil society.

DK Matai, subsequently kindly hosted the Preventable Surprises guest list at the Gherkin for an informal group discussion on the topics raised the following week.
