Our culture & values

The Lab works on transformative systems-change. We focus on deep, lasting change in the financial system that impacts mental models and power dynamics – and these are also things we attend to in our culture as an organisation.

The way we work in the Lab is underpinned by our values:

Ambition – holding true to our transformative vision with bravery based on a fundamental commitment to learning.

Collaboration – achieving change with others who share our ambition, being accountable, and acting with humility.

Empowerment – acting in solidarity with those marginalised by the financial system, approaching ourselves and others with love and care, and creating spaces where everyone can participate.

Each of these values has been further defined, and as a team we have identified behaviours that we feel help embed these into our culture. You can read more about our values and behaviours here,  find out more about our culture and values by reading this blog

Equality, diversity and inclusion

Equality, diversity and inclusion are central to the Lab’s work and community. Effective systems change relies on a diversity of perspectives and an inclusive approach to interacting with community members and other partners. This is a topic we continue to focus on, and we acknowledge the current core team is less diverse than we might hope.

Everyone is welcome in the Lab community regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. Acknowledging that particular identities are currently underrepresented and marginalised in the financial system, we aim to create spaces where these voices are heard and elevated, and everyone is included and valued.

Discrimination, bullying or harassment of any type is not tolerated.

Our culture and our community

Members of the Lab community must also commit to our ways of working and our commitment to diversity, by confirming agreement to our Lab Community Guidelines.
